This is a very simple widget that allows you to display the percentage of battery left on a simple icon home screen widget.
Part 1 - Create the Task.
1. Open Tasker.
2. Go to the Tasks tab
3. Press "+" to create a Task and call it "Battery".
4. Press "+" and under "Tasker", select and "Set Widget Label".
5. Enter the name "Battery".
6. Enter the Label: "%BATT %".
7. Click the check mark on "Set Widget Label"
8. Click the check mark on the Task window.
The task is now ready.
Part Two - Create the widget.
1. Return to your Android Home Screen.
2. Long press on the desktop and select add widget (or whatever other fashion you use to add widgets to your desktop)
3. Select Task (with the Tasker icon).
4. On the Tasker screen, select the task entitled "Battery" from the drop down list.
5. Click the icon selection button (lower right hand corner beside the "Options" menu (Screwdriver/Wrench)
6. Select an icon for the widget.
6. Click the check mark on the "Widget/Battery" screen
Part Three - Create the Updater Context
1. Open Tasker.
2. From the "Profiles" tab, press "+".
3. Name the profile "Battery" and from the "First Context" menu, select "Time".
4. De-Select the "From" box, de-select the "To" box, and select the "Repeat:" box
5. Set the frequency you wish to update the battery status (I used 2 min).
5. Click the check mark.
6. On the "Task Selection" prompt, choose the "Battery" task.
Part Four - Update icon when charging on AC Power
1. Press "+" and create a new profile "AC Power"
2. From the "First Context" menu, select "State", and then select "AC Power", and then select "Power" again.
3. Set "Source" set to "AC" and click the check mark.
4. On the "Task Selection" menu, scroll upward to the top and select "New Task".
5. Name the new task "AC Power".
6. Click the "+" and from the "Select Action Category" menu, choose "Tasker"
7. Under "Select Tasker Action", choose "Set Widget Icon".
8. Click the magnifying glass beside "Name" and choose "Battery"
9. Choose a desired icon from the options presented
10. Click the check mark.
11. Click the check mark again.
12. Long-press on the task "AC Power" on the "AC Power" profile.
13. On the "Task Options" menu, select "Add Exit Task", and create a new task name entitled "OnBatt".
14. Press "+" and select "Tasker", then select "Set Widget Icon".
15. Press the magnifying glass and select "Battery"
16. Select another icon (I chose to have this return to the battery icon I have used in Part Two.
17. Click both check marks.
Part Five - Update Icon on USB Power
1. Press "+" and create a new profile "USB Power"
2. From the "First Context" menu, select "State", and then select "Power", and then select "Power" again.
3. Set "Source" set to "USB" and click the check mark.
4. On the "Task Selection" menu, scroll upward to the top and select "New Task".
5. Name the new task "USB Power".
6. Click the "+" and from the "Select Action Category" menu, choose "Tasker"
7. Under "Select Tasker Action", choose "Set Widget Icon".
8. Click the magnifying glass beside "Name" and choose "Battery"
9. Choose a desired icon from the options presented
10. Click the check mark.
11. Click the check mark again.
12. Long-press on the task "USB Power" on the "USB Power" profile.
13. On the "Task Options" menu, select "Add Exit Task", and select "OnBatt".
14. Click the check mark to re-initialize Tasker. You are done.
The battery widget on the home screen will now update the battery percentage value at the rate you have specified. You can also click the widget to update the percentage value sooner. If you followed this task to the end, the icon on the widget will update to your specified images for USB power and AC power.
